China Boarder : Takeshiken
Bulgan, Khovd, Mongolia
Cross border from Takeshiken (China) to Bulgan (Mongolia) 16 August 2012
After visit Kanas National Park, I left China to Mongolia. The details of transportations are listed as below:
From Kanas National Park took a public bus to BuerJin (RMB 14). Overnight at BuerJin Youth Hostel (15 August 2012)
From BuerJin to BeiTun (北屯)by bus (every hours, the earliest is 10am, price is RMB 20..take 1-2 hours). After arriving BeiTun took a bus to Qinghe (清河) (1pm or 4pm) by paying RMB 63. Inform the driver to stop you at the junction where got van or bus to Takenshiken, do not go to QingHe town. Even if you miss the junction, you can take a van or a public bus from QingHe to Takenshiken. The bus (RMB22) and van (RMB 26) service are regularly or hourly. Take a van from Takenshiken to border, just wait at the junction of Takenshiken town, the price is RMB 15. You can pay in Mongolia Turkh . After arriving border, just walk to the China border then walk to Mongolia border. After coming out from Balgan, Mongolia immigrant office, there are many jeeps waiting for sending us to Balgan town (T5000). You can pay the driver in Mongolia Tugrik or China RMB. You can change currency with shops at Takenshiken too. There are van or bus services from Balgan to Khovd or Ulanbattaar. I took a terrible crowded van and the journey take 50 hours to Ulanbattaar. The price is quite expensive T80000. There are several banks at the town which provide currency exchange service (US dollar).
Cross border from Zamid Uud (Mongolia) to Erlian (China) 2 September 2012
Take a bus or a jeep from Zamid Uud train station to Erlian directly. Both of the transportation services are regularly. The bus service is cheaper (T8000 + T 1000= T9000), the disadvantage is spending more time at border checking. Jeep expensive is more expensive around (T15000). Stamping passport for two immigrants, just take your luggage out of bus and then get in the bus again, then drop for passport stamping again, then get in the bus again. The bus will stop you at Erlian Bus Station where you can get a night bus to Beijing. You can walk to train station too if you prefer train travelling. If you take a jeep, they will send you to any places in Erlian even to Beijing with a price that both of you agree.
Hello,
ReplyDeletedo you remember how far goes the tarmac road in Mongolia? Does it go beyond Bulgan, beyond Üench. Is the road to Khovd easy to find and acceptable quality for cycling?
And finally: is there a guest house/hotel in Bulgan?
Thanks for your help.
Frank
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI plan to cross this border at the end of June, from Mongolia to China. I need an entrance and exit bus ticket to get my chinese visa. Since you crossed this border by foot, how did you get your visa ?
thanks !
